A Tampa crew that only does cages
There is a version of this business where you say yes to everything. Window screens, sliding doors, gutter guards, a bit of pressure washing while you are out there. It is a perfectly reasonable way to run a company and it is not the way we run this one.
We work on pool enclosures and nothing else. The payoff is specific and it shows up on your quote: walking a cage and reading it accurately is a skill built by doing nothing else. Which generation of aluminium you have. Whether the corrosion around those fasteners is cosmetic or structural. Whether your roof panels have two seasons left or five. Whether that one panel keeps failing because of the mesh or because the channel behind it has corroded out. None of that is obvious, and all of it changes what you should be paying.
We count panels instead of estimating them
Rescreening is priced per opening. That means a written panel count is not a nice extra, it is the only thing that makes two quotes comparable. Every job starts with one: wall panels, roof panels, gable panels, kick plates and the door, written down and handed to you before any price is discussed.
You keep that count whether you hire us or not. If you want to take it and get two more quotes against the same numbers, that is exactly what it is for. A company that will not put a panel count in writing is telling you something.
Roof screens are in the quote
This is the most common way a pool cage quote gets quietly cheapened. Roof and gable panels sit under direct sun all day rather than part of it, so they age at roughly twice the rate of wall panels. They are also the most awkward and expensive openings to reach on the structure.
Leave them out and a quote can look thirty percent better while ignoring the panels in the worst condition. Ours are always counted, always itemised, and always priced separately so you can see them.
New spline, every panel, every time
Spline is the flexible cord that wedges mesh into the frame channel. It is the entire mechanism holding your screen under tension and it costs a couple of dollars a panel. Old spline that has spent six years in Florida heat is dried, shrunken and compressed — put it back and the panel looks perfect on the day and goes visibly slack within a season.
Reusing it saves roughly ten minutes across a whole cage, which tells you it is about speed rather than materials cost. We do not do it, and it is the single most common reason we get called out to fix somebody else’s rescreen.
The frame gets checked before the mesh
Around one in four Tampa cages we inspect needs aluminium work first. Corrosion spreading from fastener points, screws that no longer bite, anchors pulled out of the deck. Mesh tensioned into any of that will go slack no matter how well it is installed, and our warranty would not cover a failure the frame caused.
So we look, we itemise it separately, and we tell you plainly. Sometimes the honest answer is that repairs only postpone a rebuild — and when it is, we say so and point you toward aluminium contractors who build new enclosures well, even though it costs us the job.
The warranty in plain terms
Two years on workmanship and spline installation. That covers mesh pulling out of a channel, panels going slack and spline backing out. It does not cover a falling branch, a dog or a hurricane — those are new damage rather than workmanship, and we will repair them at our normal per-panel rate rather than pretend otherwise.

Yes, licensed in Florida with liability coverage on every job. We send the license number and a certificate of insurance before work begins without being asked. HOAs, condo associations and property managers routinely need this for their files.
No. The people who count your panels are the people who do the work. That matters more than it sounds: a subcontracted crew has no stake in whether the spline holds in two years and no reason to flag a frame problem that would shrink the job.
Because the details are where cage jobs fail, and you only learn them by doing nothing else. Mesh grain direction, spline sizing, tension sequence, reading corrosion around fasteners, knowing which roof panels are worth saving. Specialising is how we keep callbacks low enough to hold a real warranty.
Call us and we come back. Workmanship issues inside two years are fixed at no charge. New damage from storms, pets or branches is repaired at our normal per-panel rate. Either way you get a person on the phone rather than a claims process.
Never for a panel count. For scheduled work we generally collect on completion after you have walked the finished cage with us. Large multi-day commercial jobs are the exception and any staged terms are written on the quote before you agree to anything.
Regularly, and it costs us jobs. If your mesh has three or four seasons left we say so and quote only the panels that have genuinely failed. The homeowners who become repeat customers are almost always the ones we talked out of spending money the first time.
We do not file them, but we document damage thoroughly before touching anything and provide an itemised estimate in the format adjusters expect. After named storms that documentation is often the difference between a smooth claim and a long argument.
Yes. Ask during the panel count and we will give you addresses of finished cages in your area so you can drive past and look at them. That is considerably more convincing than any photo we could put on a website.
